Before you set off for your Thailand holiday here are a few things you must keep in mind about this spectacular country and its laws.

1. Carry your passport at all times

Most people tend to keep their passports and other important documents in their hotel room lockers. But when in Thailand, you are required to carry your passport with you at all times. Failing to produce your passport when asked by local authorities can land you in jail.

If you plan on hiring a car or motorcycle during your stay in Thailand, remember to have your shirt on at all times. A fine will be levied on you otherwise as driving shirtless is not allowed.

Smoking at certain beaches can land you with a heavy fine. Thai authorities have banned smoking on certain beaches, including Koh Samui, Pattaya, Phuket, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chon Buri, and Songkhla provinces.

A great way to pass time while traveling is by playing a game of cards. Thailand has a set of laws called the Playing card Act; an unusual law that forbids you from having more than 120 playing cards.

Traveling with more than 5 family members or friends? The army has banned gatherings of more than 5 people in public places! Violation could land you with a minimum of 1-year in prison. Keep your discussions indoors.
