Weekend holidays in 2015

2014 was indeed a year of weekends offering excellent options to explore long haul and short-haul destinations across India and overseas. However, 2015 is much better with good number of long weekends and a bumper nine-day Diwali break. If you take your sick leaves strategically, you will end up with good 58-60 days of travel in 2015! So, wait not! Check the list of places you can visit in India month-wise in 2015 and travel the world!

Holidays in January 2015:

January 1 (Thursday): New Year
Club it with the coming weekend and you will be off till January 4.
January 23 (Friday): Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayati
Celebrated across Kolkata. So the people from West Bengal can go for a short weekend break to near by places. January 26 (Monday): Republic Day
Club it with January 24-25 weekend and plan a fabulous extended weekend holiday!

 

Places to visit in India in January:

Since January is a part of winter season, the weather across India is excellent for travel. If you want to go skiing or experience snow; take a visit to Jammu & Kashmir, Manali or Shimla. However, if you are in the mood of having some encounter with the wildlife, how about visiting the wildlife parks of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal or Maharashtra?

Holidays in February 2015:

February 17 (Tuesday): Maha Shivratri
For a romantic holiday, club it with February 14 (Saturday) weekend and you can end up with a good 4-day long Valentine Special break.

Places to visit in India in February:

Romance is in the air this month. So how about considering few romantic places in India like Kerala, Goa, Rajasthan or even Kashmir to pop the questions! If you are a couple looking for some festivals, book yourself a holiday to Goa (Goa Carnival - February 14-17) or even Rajasthan (Music Festival - February 12-15).

Team it up with the weekend of March 7 & 8 for an exciting weekend break!

With the on-set of summers in west and south of India, there will be a mix of places you can visit in March. To colour yourself in the festive mode of holi, you can visit places like Barsana Village, Mathura or Vrindavan (Uttar Pradesh), Anandpur Sahib (Punjab), Shantiniketan or Purulia (West Bengal) or even Jaipur (Rajasthan). If you are not planning to visit North India, visit Coorg (Karnataka) to catch some white coffee flowers in bloom!

With the summers in full swing and the start of summer holidays in school, it’s time to visit the cooler corners of India. Hop on to a flight, train or bus and get to the popular hill stations of India. It is also the best time to spot tigers in national parks like Jim Corbett, Ranthambore, Tadoba and Bandipur. For all the strawberry lovers, hit the road to Mahabaleshwar in Maharashtra to celebrate Strawberry Festival which takes place in the first week of April.

Bereft of rain as it is, Ladakh is favoured among the adventure lovers as the highway to Leh opens in May. If you want to avoid crowd, June is the best time to visit this Himalayan Kingdom.

Yet another ‘No-public holiday month’, this monsoon month highlights the best of ‘Incredible India’. One of the most important attractions in July is the ‘Valley of Flowers’ in Uttarakhand. Being a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the valley is open for travellers from July to September featuring more than 300 varieties of flora and fauna in full bloom. You can also visit destinations like Andaman, Lakshadweep, Darjeeling, Gangtok and many more hidden treasures of India tourism.
