What is ‘Tourism Dirham’?
Effective from January 2014, the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has declared a new fee to be levied on guests staying in hotels and hotel apartments per room per night. This fee is collected by the hotel on arrival and a receipt is given against the same. This fee is called the ‘Tourism Dirham’
Why is it levied?
Tourism Dirham is levied by the DTCM in order to develop the trade and tourism sectors of the emirate. The funds raised herein will be used for enhancing as well as marketing the destination.
How much ‘Tourism Dirham’ will I have to pay?
A fee of Dh20 will be levied by five-star hotels, Dh15 by four-star hotels, Dh10 by three-star hotels and Dh7 by one-star hotels.
