Tips To Make The Best Of Your Weekend Trip

  • Tips To Make The Best Of Your Weekend Trip

A weekend might seem too short if you’re planning on a trip. But two days is long enough to have a wonderful time if you just keep some handy advice in mind.

    Plan ahead

This might seem quite obvious but you’ll be surprised to know how often people ignore this basic advice. You may be thinking of going with the flow but if you want to make the most of your weekend trip, it would be best if you picked a destination, booked your hotel and your flight tickets (if needed), arranged your transport, and short listed a few must-see places before the weekend. It might seem insignificant but it not only saves your precious time but also keeps your stress levels really low. Of course, you should allow for a little leeway and not expect your plan to be perfect.

    Travel with the right people

You can go to the best destinations and have the worst time if your company is, for the lack of a better word, wrong. Some of you may want to immerse yourself in the local culture and some might want to go bar hopping and party all night long. Some of you might be quite gregarious, and some may want peace and quiet. But all of you will have a terrible time if your idea of fun is completely different from one another. You might not have a great time if you frequently disagree with each other. You’re away for the weekend to relax and have fun. Bickering constantly might make you wonder why you just didn’t stay home and finish that DIY project.

Don’t follow the guide book strictly

Travel guides are great. They tell you everything right from the must see destinations, to the places where you can eat, to the places where you can shop. They also warn you against doing things that might go against the traditional practices. However, just because a restaurant has a five star rating does not mean you will like the food or the ambience. A local bakery on the tiny street might have pastries that remind you of your grandmas cooking. Or a shop that can be easily missed might have better and cheaper souvenirs than the one recommended in the book. And no one will think of you badly if you are unable to cover all the listed monuments.

    Allow for little diversions

Everyone can go and see the famous landmarks. But if you get a chance to attend a traditional wedding or a street show or something that seems like a rare opportunity, maybe you shouldn’t be too quick to pass up on it. Everyone can brag about visiting the Taj Mahal but how many can brag about cooking dinner with the old lady who generates her own electricity. Of course, you should have the sense to use your caution and let go of offers that might seem suspicious.

Well, now that you know what to do, what are you waiting for? Pick a destination, find the lowest rates and have a wonderful weekend.
