These 6 countries haven’t ever had a single case of coronavirus
The Covid-19 pandemic has spread out far and wide, affecting people and places in nearly every corner of the world. We now have the third wave hitting us. Amidst all this, it is hard to believe that there are countries that claim to not have been affected by the pandemic at all since its emergence in 2019.
Let us take a look at which countries are these.
1. North Korea
North Korea as a country has never been very welcoming to outsiders, and even more so during the pandemic. It was one of the first countries to close its borders. The borders have been shut not only for travellers but even for the import of food items and goods. For those that even had to travel, strict quarantine rules were in place.
However, for a country close to China, the epicentre of the pandemic, it is hard to believe it never had any cases of coronavirus. North Korea is anyways known for being very hush about its country matters, so you never know for sure!
2. Nauru
Nauru is a small island country in Oceania. It is one of the smallest countries in the world that you could explore the whole country in a day on foot! It is said to be one of the least visited countries, contributing to a reason why there have been no corona cases reported here. With a population of just 10,834, everyone has been vaccinated last year. The country is now allowing travellers that are fully vaccinated to travel. The travellers should carry a negative RT-PCR test report and go through quarantine.
3. Turkmenistan
Turkmenistan, a country in central Asia, closed its borders to visitors except for repatriation flights coming in. Only citizens of the country are allowed to enter and need to be fully vaccinated. The country claims to have had zero cases of the coronavirus so far despite the fact that all its neighbouring countries have been affected. However, medical experts have serious doubts as Turkmenistan has a history of suppressing data and an autocratic natured government.
4. Cook Island
Cook Island has never reported a single corona case since the spread of the virus. It had been close to the world till now. Only fully vaccinated new Zealanders will be allowed to travel to this Island country from 14th January 2022.
5. Tuvalu
Another Oceania island country that is known to be the least visited country in the world. With a population of about 11,790 people and an area of just 25.9 km², Tuvalu hasn't reported even a single case of coronavirus and has had its borders shut and travel banned.
6. Pitcairn Islands
The citizens of the Pitcairn Islands have achieved 100 per cent vaccination, which means all 47 residents of the island are vaccinated. The Pitcairn Islands is said to open its borders to international tourists from March 31, 2022, after nearly two years of shutting down for tourism.
