The inseparability of ‘Style’ from ‘Goa’ progressively gets reinforced. A recent development with respect to this green state will augment the popular interest.

Aside from the bus and flight services between Mumbai and Goa, there is going to be another option; and this is, perhaps, all the more interesting and adventurous option of all - a ferry service between Mumbai and Goa is going to be commissioned. The Mumbai Port Trust (MPT) and Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) conjointly have reached this decision. The service is set to commence from the month of December 2017. And as a result a rank of jetties are being readied in Navi Mumbai.

With a seating capacity of 200 to 300 passengers, it will be heartening to know, this ferry will take you through multiple stops - Dighi in Raigad, Dabhol and Jaigad in Ratnagiri district, Vijay Durg and Malvan. Therefore passengers who desire to travel to any of the above-mentioned places can also board the ferry. It will depart from Bhaucha Dhakka or Ferry Wharf in Mumbai and finally dock at Panjim.

This is actually a noble endeavour towards resumption of the once-existed sea link between the two states. Long back the Shipping Corporation of India had ships that plied on this route. Later they were commandeered and assigned the task to transport the Indian Peacekeeping Force personnel to Sri Lanka. The last of these ferries plied in the year 1989.

Again in the '90s, 'Damania Shipping' had arranged a 7-hours catamaran service to ply between Mumbai and Goa. Unfortunately, the service was terminated shortly as the tourists found it on the expensive side. But the new attempt seems to be more promising and tourist friendly. It will be worth a try indeed!

So get ready for an adventurous trip to Goa. Let's plan your holiday.
