Jatayu Nature Park, Kerala

Easily a common favourite destination for almost everyone on account of the profusion of green, Kerala now has now more reasons to attract travellers. The state has recently designed and developed a nature park surrounding a giant sculpture of Jatayu, the Indian mythological vulture. The statue stands tall and stoutly on a vast land measuring 65 acres. This is an interesting development for all the mythology and folklore enthusiasts.

With a 200-ft tall statue of Jatayu, the vulture, the nature park is located in the Chadayamangalam village of the district Kollam. What makes this project even more interesting is the fact that the park is posited top on a hill with a height of 1000 feet. Hence if you love photography, do carry your camera for you will be greeted with some inspiring vistas here.

The concept has its roots lying in the long-held belief that the mythological bird, which had tried to save Sita from Ravana, had died here. Another fact, the manifestation of footprint of Lord Ram engraved in a stone here further goes on to corroborate this faith.

A remarkable and unexampled brainchild of the Kerala Tourism, this nature park has other curious attractions too. The park is built up surrounding the theme of Ramayana. There is a ‘6D theatre’ to host shows depicting the battle between Jatayu and Ravana.
