From comic strips to animated films, cartoon characters have been our best friends since our precious childhood days. Since we received an uninterrupted exposure to the world of animation since childhood, each one of us has a favourite cartoon character.

1. Archie in Archie

Story - Our favourite Archie Andrews is an American and lives in Riverdale. Son of Fred and Mary Andrews, he finds himself torn between two beautiful female friends of his Veronica Lodge and Betty Cooper. 2. Tintin in The Adventures of Tintin

Story - Smart and clever Tintin is our favourite reporter in the world! And with the intelligent and trusted friend snowy, the dog, this Belgian adventurer is ready for any challenge. The cases are intriguing and exacting; the criminals are shrewd and beguiling; the situations are confusing and threatening. But Tintin is not alone in his quest, for he is blessed with a coterie of friends who can never leave him in danger - Professor Calculus, Captain Haddock and Thompson & Thomson.

3. Asterix in The Adventures of Asterix

Asterix is another widely read comic book series that was also adapted to television later. Set in 50 BC in a coastal village in France, the local hero Asterix braves all dangers and faces up all the challenges. His friends, all strange ones, as we all know, Obelix, Dogmatix along with other characters like Vitalstatistix, Getafix are some of the main and memorable characters of this potion-drinking village community!

4. Rapunzel in Rapunzel

The fairy tale from Germany has been for generations planting the first seed of imagination in many innocent minds. First published in 1812, the story revolves around a beautiful young girl named Rapunzel who was blessed with an exorbitantly long and lustrous mane. But she was an unfortunate girl who was bolted in a tall tower by an evil witch. We all know the story, have loved the tale and will love to pass it down to the next generation, isn’t it?

5. Pingu in Pingu

This is a television comedy series that we have grown up on and loved immensely. The penguin family in Switzerland, their lives and everyday stories that was unfolded without a single word being spoken, made it so attractive. What made it different from the other shows was the stop motion technique applied to the clay-made animated characters. They conversed in the Penguin language called "Pinguish" or "Penguinese"!

6. Thumbelina in Thumbelina

Thumbelina, a story that originated in Denmark, is the story of a teeny-weeny little girl and her struggles remember? She is minuscule and receives marriage proposals from all the small bugs and toads around. Finally she finds love in a beautiful flower-fairy prince. They are of the same size! Remember? Incredible memories; immediately transport us back to the days of a beautiful and unsoiled childhood.

7. Mowgli in The Jungle Book

This is an absolutely unforgettable story of a young boy who thrives in the forests of India. Reared and protected by the wolves clan and threatened by the infamous and dreadful tiger Shere Khan, this story has made its way out of the pages of the book into the wider screens of cinematic pleasure.
