Airline Travel Advisory

In the light of the current COVID-19 outbreak worldwide and travel restrictions in various places, airlines have updated their policies temporarily for cancellation, refund, reissue, etc.

Due to fast-changing government mandates and restrictions in various places, the below-mentioned information is subject to change anytime and without notice by the airlines. For more information regarding the same, kindly get in touch with our flight team who will be happy to guide you.

Mentioned below is the list of Domestic as well as International airlines and their current policies -

Important Information: Dear customers, due to the current pandemic situation airlines may keep updating their rules without any prior notice. We are updating our page from time to time, but we request you to confirm the policies with the airlines as well before making any amendments to your travel plans.

Domestic Airlines

• AirAsia

  For all flights that have been cancelled by the airlines from 1st June 2020 onwards, you have the option to -
  
  • Convert the amount paid for your flight booking into a credit voucher which can be redeemed for a new flight booking in the next 730 days from the date of credit shell creation.
  
  • You could change your flight date without any additional charges to any date before 31 October 2020.

---

• Air India

  For passengers having Air India tickets for travel between 15 March 2020 to 24 August 2020 who have had their flights cancelled or were not allowed to travel on the flight, owing to changed entry restrictions due to COVID-19.
  
  • A full refund will be given for all flights that were cancelled during the travel period between 25 March 2020 to 03 May 2020, for tickets purchased post 22 May 2020.
  
  • One date/flight change will be allowed without additional cost for travel till 24 August 2020. For travel after 24 August 2020 fare difference if any will be collected.
  
  • For route change, passengers ticket will be adjusted against the new fare value. Tickets will have to be reissued along with applicable fare difference.
  
  • All tickets will be considered valid till 31 December 2021 irrespective of the date of purchase. The value of the ticket will be fully protected. Booking must be done by 31 December 2021 and travel should be completed by 31 December 2021.

• Air India Express

  • For flight travel between 01 March 2020 to 30 September 2020, passengers are allowed to reschedule their travel date once without any penalty charges. The new travel date should be on or before 31 March 2021.

---

• Air Vistara

  • For passengers having travel dates between 17 March 2020 to 31 May 2020 are allowed to reschedule the date and sector once free of cost. Fare difference will apply. The amended travel date should be before 31 December 2020.
  
  • Passengers will be fully refunded if the flight is cancelled by Vistara within 14 days of departure from the travel date.

• GoAir

  • For tickets booked for departure till 31 July 2020, passengers are allowed one free date/sector change per PNR for up to 1 year from the original date of travel. Fare difference if any will be applicable.

---

• IndiGo

  • For tickets booked between 25 March 2020 to 14 April 2020 for travel between 25th March to 03 May 2020, the passenger will be eligible for a full refund.
  
  • For tickets booked before 21 May 2020 for travel between 25th March to 31st May 2020, the ticket amount will be automatically maintained as credit vouchers. It can be used to make a booking within 1 year from the issuance date.

• SpiceJet

  • For tickets booked between 25th March 2020 - 14th March 2020 for travel between 25th March 2020 and 3rd May 2020, passengers are eligible for a full refund.
  
  • For tickets cancelled between 25th March 2020 - 03rd May 2020, the ticket amount will be converted to credit vouchers which can be used for travel on or before 28th February 2021.
  
  • For bookings cancelled between 4th May 2020 - 31st May 2020, credit vouchers can be used for travel on or before 31st March 2021.

• TrueJet

  • For tickets booked with travel dates between 5 March 2020 - 31 March 2020, Passengers will be provided with a full refund.

International Airlines

• AirAsia

  For tickets booked on or by 17 April 2020 for travel between 23 March 2020 - 30 June 2020 -
  
  • Passengers are eligible for a credit voucher which will be valid for 1 year.
  
  • Passengers can change to a new travel date on the same route without any additional charges.

• Air New Zealand

  • For tickets booked for travel up to 31 August 2020, passengers can change their bookings without any additional fees or fare difference.
  
  • For tickets booked for travel up to 31 March 2021, passengers can change their bookings without any change fees or opt to convert their ticket value to a credit voucher. Fare difference if any will be applicable.
  
  • Credit vouchers are valid for rebooking till 31 December 2021 and travel is valid for 12 months from the date of booking.
  
  • No refunds will be provided for non-refundable tickets unless the local legislation requires a refund to be made available.

• Air Canada

  • For tickets booked before 31 December 2020 for travel between 01 March 2020 - 31 December 2021, passengers are allowed a one-time change without any additional fee. New travel is valid for 24 months from the date the ticket is cancelled by the passenger.
  
  • Passengers can also convert their tickets to credit vouchers that have no expiry date or to Aeroplan Miles with an additional 65% bonus miles.

• Air India

  For tickets booked for travel between 15 March 2020 - 30 September 2020 -
  
  • Passengers are eligible for a full refund without any cancellation charges for flight bookings made and travel between 25 March 2020 - 03 May 2020.
  
  • Cancellation charges are waived-off for flights between 15 March 2020 - 30 September 2020.
  
  • For amendments - The value of the ticket will be fully protected and considered valid till 31 December 2021 irrespective of the current validity and ticket type.
  
  • Bookings of ticket and departure should be done on or before 31 December 2021.
  
  • One Date/ Booking Code/ Flight change will be allowed free of cost.
  
  • In case of route change or change in booking class, fare difference if any will be applicable.
  
  • For partly utilized tickets, (RT tickets) residual value of the ticket will be calculated, considering half return fare.
  
  • No differential fare refund will be permitted in case the new ticket fare is lower than the existing ticket.

• Air India Express

  • For tickets booked for travel till 30 September 2020, passengers can modify their bookings without any additional fees. Fare difference if any will be applicable.
  
  • For flights cancelled due to Covid-19, passengers can modify their tickets for travel till 31 December 2021.

---

• Air France

  • For flight cancelled by the airline, passengers are eligible for a full refund.
  
  • Passengers can re-book their travel to date up till 30 November 2020, without any additional fee.
  
  • Route change is also permitted.
  
  • Fully unused tickets can be converted to a credit voucher that is valid for up to one year from the date of issuance.
  
  • The tickets must be re-booked/ reissued on or by 31 October 2020.
  
  • Cancellation policy as per fare rules- In cases where flights were cancelled by the airline, passengers will be eligible for a full refund for refundable tickets. For non-refundable tickets, a credit voucher will be issued.
  
  • The value of the voucher may be increased up to a 15% bonus if you use it before 31 October 2020 for a departure on or till 15 June 2021.

• Air China

  • Passengers are allowed 1 free date change for tickets booked for travel before 30 June 2020. Fare change if any will be applicable. The new travel date should be after 01 July 2020.
  
  • Passengers that cancel their booking are eligible for a full refund. The cancellation penalty is waived off.

---

• Air Seychelles

  For tickets booked before 01 August 2020 and those cancelled due to Covid-19 -
  
  • Passengers can reschedule their date for travel up to 31 December 2021.
  
  • Passengers can transfer their tickets to another passenger at an additional cost.
  
  • Passengers can also request for a refund. The refund may take up to 6 months to process.
  
  
  For tickets issued as of 01 August 2020 -
  
  • Passenger is eligible for unlimited date changes for travel up to 31 December 2021 without any additional fees.
  
  • Refund of the ticket remains as per the fare rules.
  
  • Fare difference if any will be applicable.
  
  • Date changes are permitted only more than 3 days before departure.

• American Airlines

  • For tickets booked by 30 September 2020 for travel between 01 March 2020 - 31 December 2020, passengers can reschedule their tickets without any additional fees. Fare difference if any will be applicable.
  
  • Travel must be completed by 31 December 2021. In some cases, ticket validity will be less.
  
  • For tickets expiring between 01 March 2020 - 31 December 2020, the value of the unused ticket can be used for travel till December 31, 2021.
  
  • For new travel booked up till 31 December 2020, change fees will be waived off till 01 January 2020. Fare difference if any will be applicable.

• Air Tanzania

  • Passengers can change the date and route of the booking without any additional fee. Fare difference if any will be applicable.
  
  • You can exchange your ticket amount to a credit voucher as well which will be valid for travel till 30 April 2022.

---

• Cathay Pacific

  • For tickets booked by 23 March 2020 for travel till 31 December 2020, passengers are allowed to change their booking unlimited times without any rebooking or rerouting fees. Travel must be completed by 31 December 2021.
  
  • For tickets booked by 23 March 2020 for travel between 01 June 2020 - 31 December 2020, passengers can also convert their ticket value to credit vouchers. The travel must be completed by 31 December 2021.
  
  • Passenger can also claim a refund if they wish to cancel their tickets.

• Delta Air Lines

  • For flights cancelled by the airlines due to COVID-19, passengers are eligible for a full refund.
  
  • For tickets booked by 17 April 2020 for travel between 25 February 2020 - 31 September 2020, passengers are allowed to reschedule their travel without any additional fees. Fare difference in any will be applicable.
  
  • For tickets purchased between 01 March 2020 - 31 December 2020, passengers can change the ticket without additional charges, valid for up to a year from date of purchase. Fare difference in any will be applicable.

• Emirates

  • Passengers are eligible for a full refund if the flight is cancelled by the airline.
  
  • For tickets booked on or before 31 July 2020 for travel on or before 30 November 2020, passengers can reschedule your booking without any additional fees to an alternate flight within the same region.
  
  • Passenger can also keep their ticket status open for a period of 760 days from the date of issuance of the original ticket.
  
  • For rescheduling to any other region fare difference if any will be applicable.
  
  • Unused portion of the ticket is eligible for a refund without penalty.

• Etihad Airways

  • For tickets booked before 31 October 2020 for travel until 30 November 2020, passengers can change their flight for free.
  
  • Rebooking of tickets must be done before 30 November 2020 and travel must be completed before 31 October 2021. Fare difference will not be applicable for travel within the same zone before 30 November 2020.
  
  • For flights that have been cancelled, passengers can keep their tickets open. It will be open till 31 October 2021 and if it has not been used within 12 months of the first cancelled flight, passengers will be entitled a refund.

• Ethiopian Airlines

  For tickets issued before 30 September 2020 for travel between 01 March 2020 - 30 November 2020
  
  • Passengers are allowed one free change for operational flights.
  
  • If flight has not started operation or if the flight resumption date is rescheduled by the airlines, passengers are eligible for unlimited changes without any additional fees.
  
  • Passengers can keep their ticket for travel until December 31, 2021,
  
  • Passengers can also request for a travel voucher which will be valid for travel up to one year.
  
  • Fare differences if any will be applicable.

• Egypt Air

  • For tickets booked between 19 March 2020 - 30 June 2020
  
  • Passengers can change their travel dates one time without any additional fees. Fare difference if any will be applicable. The ticket validity is till 31 December 2020.
  
  • Passengers can also convert their ticket value to credit vouchers that can be used for future bookings.
  
  • Passengers can request a refund.

---

• GoAir

  • For tickets booked for travel till 31 July 2020, passengers can reschedule their bookings without any additional fee. Fare difference if any will be applicable.
  
  • For tickets booked for travel beyond 31 July 2020, rescheduling fee will be applicable. Fare difference if any will be applicable.
  
  • If the airline is unable to operate its scheduled flight, the passenger will be accommodated on an alternate flight (-/+ 24 hrs) if not, the passenger will be eligible for a full refund.
  
  • For flights that have been denied permission to operate, your PNR will be protected and the value of your ticket can be used for travel for a future date. Fare difference if any will be applicable.

• Gulf Air

  • For tickets issued between 10 March 2020 - 31 October 2020 regardless of travel dates, passengers are allowed unlimited date changes without any additional fees. Fare difference if any will be applicable.
  
  • There will be no refund if the fare of the new departure is lower.
  
  • The above is also applicable for tickets booked for travel this year.

• IndiGo

  • For flights that have been cancelled by the airlines, the ticket value will be converted to credit vouchers which is valid for 1 year from the date of issuance. Fare difference if any will be applicable.
  
  • For bookings made between 25 March 2020 - 14 April 2020 for travel between 25 March 2020 - 03 May 2020, passengers are eligible for a full refund, which will be processed on request.
  
  • There will be no change fee applicable for flights booked up to 30 September 2020.

• Japan Airways

  For tickets issued before 11th June for travel between 28 February 2020 - 31 October 2020 -
  
  • One free date change is permitted without any additional fees. the new departure must be completed by 31 March 2021.
  
  • Passenger can claim a refund for flights cancelled by the airlines.

• Kuwait Airways

  • For tickets issued before 30 April 2020 for travel between 22 February 2020 - 31 December 2020, passengers are eligible for a refund/ re-issue/re-routing without any penalty charges.
  
  • Any difference in fare, taxes, and surcharges will be applicable.
  
  • For tickets issued between 01 July 2020 - 31 August 2020 for travel from 01 August 2020 - 31 December 2020 for Cancelled Flights Only may re-book/re-route/re-issue/refund their tickets without penalty based on the booking class.
  
  • For non-refundable tickets - for travel between 01 May 2020 - 31 December 2020, no refund is applicable.
  
  • Passengers can also convert their ticket value to a credit voucher which can be used for future travel up to 2 years from the date of issue.

• Kenya Airways

  For tickets issued on or before 30 June 2020 for travel between 01 February 2020 - 30 September 2020 -
  
  • Passengers can leave their tickets open up to 30 June 2021.
  
  • Unlimited changes permitted free of charge.
  
  • Fare difference if any will be applicable.
  
  • Passengers can also convert their ticket value to a credit voucher which will be valid for up to 1 year.

---

• Lufthansa

  • For flights cancelled by the airline due to COVID-19, passengers are eligible for a full refund.
  
  • Passengers can also rebook/reissue their tickets for a future date up till 31 December 2021 to the same destination and travel class. Fare difference if any will be applicable (Change in travel class or route)
  
  • The rebooking/reissue must be done by 31 January 2021.

---

• Malaysia Airlines

  • For tickets issued till 30 June 2020 for travel during 2020/2021, passengers can rebook their tickets by 30 June 2021 for travel till 31 December 2021.
  
  • Passenger can make unlimited changes to their travel dates with no additional fees.
  
  • Fare difference if any will be applicable.

---

• Oman Air

  • Passengers can change their travel dates/routes up to two times without any additional fees. Fare difference if any will be applicable. The amended travel must be completed within 24 months from the original date of issue.
  
  • For tickets issued till 31 August 2020, two free date changes are allowed within the validity of the ticket. Rebooking should be completed by 31 December 2020 and travel by 31 December 2021.
  
  • Passengers can also submit a refund requests for cancelled tickets.

• Qantas

  All International flights are suspended till the end of October 2020.
  
  • For flights cancelled by the airlines, you will be rebooked on the next available flight. Passengers can also claim a credit voucher or a refund without any change or cancellation fees.
  
  
  For bookings made before 30 April 2020 for travel between 31 January - 31 October 2020 -
  
  • Passengers can convert their ticket value to credit vouchers for multiple bookings. The new travel must be completed before 31 December 2022.
  
  
  For flights after 31 October 2020 -
  
  • Passengers can request a credit voucher which will be valid for 12 months from the original booking date. Fare difference if any will be applicable.
  
  • If the passenger wishes to change or cancel the booking, standard fare rules and change or cancellation fee may apply.

• Royal Nepal

  For tickets booked for travel between 19 March 2020 - 30 September 2020 from DEL/BOM and BLR -
  
  • The validity of the ticket has been extended till 31 December 2020. The new travel must be completed by 31 March 2021.
  
  • Date change charge, No-show charge and fare difference for any ticket type has been waived off.
  
  • Difference in applicable taxes if any, will be collected.

• Qatar Airways

  For tickets issued on or before 30 September 2020 -
  
  • Passengers can extend the ticket validity for 2 years from the date of ticket issuance.
  
  • Unlimited change in travel date or destination is permitted for travel until 31 December 2020 without any additional fees. Passengers can also change the origin-destination within 5000 miles of the original destination.
  
  • For travel after 01 January 2021, fare difference if any will be applicable.
  
  • The ticket can be exchanged for Qmiles that can be redeemed towards reward flights, upgrades, etc. Qmiles are valid for up to 3 years.
  
  • Passenger can exchange their ticket for a future travel voucher valid up to 2 years from the date of issuance with an additional 10% value.
  
  • If the flight gets cancelled by the airlines, passengers are eligible for a refund.

• Singapore Airlines

  • For tickets issued before 15 March 2020 for travel between 24 January 2020 - 30 November 2020, passengers are eligible for a full refund.
  
  • For tickets issued before 15 March 2020 for travel between 24 January 2020 - 30 June 2020, passengers can reschedule their travel without and additional fees. Fare difference if any will be applicable. The new journey should be completed by 31 December 2021.

• SpiceJet

  • All International flights have been suspended till 30 September 2020.
  
  • For tickets booked for travel between 25 March 2020 - 30 September 2020, the bookings have automatically been cancelled without any cancellation fees and a credit voucher has been created for the same.
  
  • For bookings cancelled by the airlines between 25 March 21020 - 03 May 2020, a credit voucher can be used for travel by 28 February 2021. For bookings cancelled between 04 May 2020 - 31 May 2020, a credit voucher can be used for travel by 31 March 2021.
  
  • For bookings made between 25 March 2020 - 14 April 2020 for travel between 25 March 2020 - 03 May 2020, Passengers are eligible for a full refund.

---

• South African Airways

  • All South African Airways flights stand suspended until the end of September 2020.
  
  • For tickets issued before 25 March 2020 and new tickets issued up to 30 September 2020, passengers can convert the value of their tickets to a credit voucher, which can be used to book a new ticket for travel up to 25 March 2022.
  
  • Fare difference if any will be applicable.

• Turkish Airlines

  For tickets booked between 21 March 2020 - 31 December 2020 -
  
  • Passengers are eligible for a full refund if the flight was cancelled by the airline.
  
  • Passengers can reschedule their travel without any additional fees. Fare difference if any will be applicable. The new travel must be completed by 31 December 2021.
  
  • Passengers can also change their tickets to an open ticket.
  
  • Passengers can exchange their ticket for a voucher with 15% additional value that can be used for a future travel.

• Thai Airways

  For tickets issued before 09 July 2020 -
  
  • The validity of the ticket will be extended to 31 January 2020. However, if you do not wish to rebook by 31 January 2021, your ticket validity will automatically be extended to 31 December 2021.
  
  • For fully unused ticket issues, passengers can exchange their tickets for travel vouchers of the same value. The first voucher will be valid for up to a year. However, if you do not rebook your flight within a year you will receive a second voucher that will be valid till December 2022.
  
  • For partially used tickets, passengers will receive a refund based on the flights flown and settled by the original issuing office.

• United Airlines

  For tickets issued for travel on or before 02 March 2020 for travel between 01 June 2020 - 31 December 2020.
  
  • Change or cancellations must be made on/before 31 December 2020.
  
  • The new travel must be rebooked within 24 months from the original ticket date with no change fees. Fare difference if any will be applicable.
  
  • For tickets issued for travel on or before 02 March 2020 for travel between 03 March 2020 - 31 May 2020.
  
  • New tickets must be reissued and travel must be completed within 24 months from the original ticket date.
  
  • Passengers can convert their ticket value to credit vouchers which can be used for travel on United, United Express, and partner-operated flights. Credit vouchers must be used for travel within 12 months from the date of issue of the original ticket. Credits for tickets issued between 01 May 2019 - 31 March 2020 is valid for 24 months from the original issue date.

• Virgin Atlantic

  • For tickets booked for travel between 01 March 2020 - 30 November 2020, Passengers that rebook their flights for travel before 09 December and between 11 January 2021 - 31 March 2021 can do so without any change fees. Fare difference will apply only for route and cabin change.
  
  • For tickets booked for travel between 01 March 2020 - 30 November 2020, Passengers that rebook their flights for travel between 10 December 2020 - 10 January 2021 and between 01 April 2021 - 30 September 2022 can do so without any change fee. Fare difference if any will be applicable.
  
  • For tickets issued between 01 March 2020 - 31 October 2020 for travel between 01 December 2020 - 30 April 2021, Passengers that rebook their flights for travel between 12 June 2020 - 30 September 2022 can do so without any change fee. Fare difference if any will be applicable.
  
  • Changes fees will be waived off for up to 2 bookings.
