Kashmir is located in the northern part of the country, near the Himalayas and hence experiences a good climate throughout the year. The best time to visit Kashmir is between March - October. This time period is divided into three seasons that you’ll get to experience in Kashmir.
March to early May is the time of spring. Flowers in their full bloom make the valley a beautiful place to withhold.
May to late august is summer time. The weather is good and pleasant.
September - October is autumn time. The valley is the most beautiful when it’s draped in a cover of red leaves. Hues of orange, red and gold can be seen everywhere you look.
The valley never looks as pretty as when it does during Autumn.
In the month of November - December, it is very cold and Kashmir is usually covered in veil of snow. If you want to experience snowfall, then you can visit Kashmir during these months. But it tends to get very cold, so appropriate clothing is recommended.

Air: The Srinagar international airport is approximately 14 km from the city. There are daily flights to Srinagar, operated by Indian Airlines (from Delhi, Mumbai and Jammu) and other Private Airlines like Air Deccan, SpiceJet, Kingfisher, Jet Airways (from Delhi and Jammu). Flight is the fastest and easiest way.
Road: National Highway 1-A is the main highway connecting Srinagar with Jammu. J&K State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) as well as a number of private Super deluxe, A-class and B-class buses operate to and from the state. The option of booking a private cab is also available.
Rail: Jammu Tawi, approximately 305 km far, is the nearest railhead for Srinagar. Trains from Delhi, Calcutta, Pune, Mumbai and other cities arrive at this station.
