- There are two types of forms that need to filled in and submitted (Form 1419 and Form 956).
- Photo specification: 2 recent photos per person, 35 mm x 45 mm, 80% of the face should be seen. The photograph must not be older than 6 months and shouldn’t be used in any manner prior to the application.
- Original covering letter from applicant with expenses and travel details addressed to Australia High Commission, New Delhi.
- Original passports with 6 months validity from date of travel and old passports if any. (Passport all pages photocopies and notarised required on each page)
- Income Tax papers showing last 3 years transactions.
- Updated bank statement for the last 6 months showing applicant's name, account number with bank seal and sign.
- Original leave letter from employer (if applicant is working in a firm) which must be addressed to Australia High commission, New Delhi.
- Travel itinerary with proof of hotel stay with passenger name and travel dates.
- Occupation proof and salary slip of the last 3 months.
Note: If the applicant's place of collection of documents is a place other than Mumbai, an additional courier fee of Rs 700 will be applicable.

An Australia Visa takes about 20 working days.

The visa is valid for a period of one year, i.e, 12 months.
- When should I apply for a visa?
Keeping the processing time in mind, apply for a Australia Visa 10-12 days before your schedules travel date. The average processing times of visa applications depend on the category of visa being applied for.
- Should I purchase my airline ticket before travelling?
It is advisable that you book flight tickets that are refundable if the bookings are made prior to the grant of a visa. - How do I find out about the progress of my application?
The following are the stages that a visa to Australia undergoes:
Stage I: Application is received by us, and forwarded to Australian High Commission.
Stage II: Application is received and processed by Australian High Commission.
Stage III: Passport/Documents/Notification Letter is either emailed or couriered or is available at the counter at the Australian High Commission for collection. (Please note: The counter option is Applicable for Delhi and Nepal applicants only)
Stage IV: Passport/Documents is collected from Australia Visa application Centre. ( Please note that there will be a Service Charge for the above services. The issuance of the visa and the decisions regarding the same are beyond the control of musafir.com, and are solely subject to the Australia High Commission’s jurisdiction.)
Please note that Australian privacy legislation prevents the Australian High Commission from disclosing information about visa applications to anyone other than the applicant. This means that if anyone other than the applicant contacts the High Commission to enquire on your behalf, the High Commission will not be provide them with any information unless you have provided written authorization.
- Once in Australia, how long can I visit/stay for?
You are allowed to stay in the country for a maximum of 3 months at a time. It is possible to leave the country and re-enter for a further 3 months within the life time of the visa (12 months).
