TaipeiAfter enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we begin our day with a visit to the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, a grand monument honoring the late President Chiang Kai-shek. Next, we'll head to the Grand Hotel Taipei, a renowned 5-star historical landmark, for a photo stop. As we travel, our guide will briefly introduce the Presidential Office Building, a significant symbol and historic site in Taipei. Following our stop at the Grand Hotel, we'll continue to the Martyrs’ Shrine, where we'll witness the impressive guard-changing ceremony. Our final destination is the National Palace Museum, home to nearly 700,000 ancient Chinese artifacts and artworks, spanning 8,000 years of Chinese history. Taipei - Sun Moon Lake
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, you will depart from central Taipei and journey to the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area, nestled in the island's heart. This breathtaking destination is also the ancestral homeland of the Thao people, an indigenous group with a rich cultural heritage. In the afternoon you'll embark on a scenic bus tour around Sun Moon Lake, beginning with a visit to Ita Thao. This indigenous village offers a glimpse into the traditions and lifestyle of the Thao people. Next, you'll visit the towering Ci'en Pagoda, built by the late President Chiang Kai-shek in memory of his mother, which offers stunning lake views. Your exploration continues with visits to Xuanzang Temple, a peaceful Buddhist sanctuary dedicated to the revered monk Xuanzang, and Wenwu Temple, a majestic Taoist temple known for its three halls devoted to the Martial God and the God of Literature. Sun Moon Lake - Tainan - Kaohsiung
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, you'll board the bus and head to Tainan, Taiwan's oldest city, renowned for its rich history and an array of historic buildings. Your adventure begins with a visit to Fort Zeelandia, a fortress originally built by the Dutch East India Company during their 38-year rule over western Taiwan. Following your exploration of Fort Zeelandia, you'll stroll down Anping Old Street, a historic lane established over 300 years ago by the Dutch and the first officially named street in Taiwan. This charming street is also a culinary haven, offering local specialties. Be sure to indulge in these delicacies, adding a tasty dimension to your historical journey through Tainan. Next, you'll travel to the picturesque harbor city of Kaohsiung, the largest city in Southern Taiwan. Upon arrival, you'll visit the famous Fo Guang Shan Monastery, a major Buddhist site founded in 1967 by Venerable Master Hsing Yun. The monastery is best known for its Great Buddha Land, where a towering 36-meter-tall golden statue of Buddha Amitabha, the tallest standing Buddha in Southeast Asia, is surrounded by 480 smaller Buddha statues. During your visit, you'll have the chance to engage with a knowledgeable monk, who will share insights into the teachings and growth of Buddhism, the most widely practiced religion in Taiwan. Kaohsiung - Kenting - Taitung
After breakfast at the hotel, you'll embark on a journey southward toward Taiwan's first national park, Kenting National Park. Renowned for its stunning coastal geological formations, diverse landscapes, and rich marine life. This region is also a haven for surfers and divers. Your exploration begins with a visit to Maopitou, or "cat’s nose," a rock formation aptly named for its resemblance to a giant crouching cat when viewed from a distance. Next, you'll stop at Chuanfan Rock, or "sail rock," a striking natural formation that looks like the sail of a ship or, as some say, resembles the face of former U.S. President Richard Nixon. You'll then visit the historic Eluanpi Lighthouse, built during the Qing Dynasty and celebrated as one of the Eight Views of Taiwan during the Japanese colonial period. Your tour of Kenting concludes at Longpan Park, a coral limestone plateau offering breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, sculpted by years of rainfall erosion. Your first stop is Xiaoyeliu, also known as Fugang Geopark, where you'll encounter fascinating rock formations similar to those at Yehliu Geopark in northern Taiwan. These unique landforms, sculpted by weathering and sea erosion, offer a glimpse into the powerful forces of nature at work. Next, you'll visit Sanxiantai, or the "Terrace of the Three Immortals," a captivating site featuring an offshore island connected to the mainland by an iconic cross-sea bridge. The area is famous for its coral reefs and serves as a key landmark within the East Coast National Scenic Area. Your adventure continues at Shitiping, literally "stone steps," a remarkable sea erosion terrace where you'll witness promontories, sea grooves, cliffs, and potholes formed over millions of years by relentless wave action. This area is a natural geology classroom, showcasing the intricate processes that shape our planet. Before heading to Hualien, you'll stop at Fanshuliao, a narrow canyon often referred to as a smaller version of the famous Taroko Gorge. This unique geological formation adds another layer of wonder to your east coast journey. Once in Hualien, you'll visit a marble factory, gaining insights into the marble industry that has played a crucial role in the city's history and development. As you explore the exhibits, you'll learn how marble mining and processing have contributed to Hualien's prosperity. Hualien – Taroko Gorge – Taipei
After Breakfast Explore the awe-inspiring Taroko National Park, Taiwan’s premier destination, renowned for its dramatic gorges, diverse wildlife, and towering marble cliffs. Established in 1986 in eastern Taiwan, the park features some of the island's most famous attractions, including Cimu Bridge, the Tunnel of Nine Turns, Swallow Grotto Trail, Buluowan Suspension Bridge, Eternal Spring Shrine, and the breathtaking Qingshui Cliff. Begin your day at Cimu Bridge, a tribute to maternal love, before exploring the picturesque Tunnel of Nine Turns and the soaring marble cliffs of Swallow Grotto. The Buluowan Suspension Bridge offers stunning views of the Liwu Valley, while the Eternal Spring Shrine commemorates the lives lost during the construction of the Central Cross-Island Highway. Conclude your visit with the majestic Qingshui Cliff, one of Taiwan's "Eight Wonders," before returning to Taipei for an overnight stay.
