The kingdom of Jordan was named after the Jordan River, to whose east this country lies. Jordan is a country where you can find a confluence of Arab and European cultures co-existing, giving the country its unique look and feel. Right from the Classical era to the Islamic era, to the current Modern era, Jordan has thrived through it all. The marks of history can be seen in the architecture of Jordan and the streets of its capital Amman.
