Gulf Air is the main flag carrier of Bahrain. It started as an air-taxi service about 68 years ago and in 1950 started its journey as Gulf Air becoming one of the oldest airlines in the Middle East. Gulf Air has entered into code share agreements with Thai Airways, Royal Jordanian, Philippine Airlines, Egypt Air and American Airlines.

Gulf Air has introduced several novel features that passengers can avail of even prior to boarding the flight. It offers pre-paid seat selection for economy class passengers where passengers can upgrade to a better seat on extra payment. It also offers pre-paid lounge access in its Falcon Gold Lounges. Yet another pre-paid service is for excess baggage where there is a concessional rate.

Gulf Air runs the Falconflyer frequent flyer program. The program is quite broad based with several classes of membership including families and corporate. Gulf Air operates an exclusive program for corporate flyers with attractive benefits to the corporate and its flyers in the form of lower prices, exclusive access to various Gulf Air products and services.
Special Assistance
Gulf Air provides special services for those needing them. Special services are offered to passengers with disabilities, unaccompanied children and pregnant women. Services are also offered for special meals. Infants and small children are looked after with due care such as special seat belts for children on lap.
Gulf Air Web Check-in
Web check-in facilities offered by Gulf Air is very convenient and user-friendly. Passengers can check-in between 1 ½ hours and 24 hours before departure even opting for a seat of their choice. Gulf Air offers a “Web Check-in Baggage Drop” facility for web check-in passengers.
Baggage Allowance
Gulf Air has a baggage allowance of 30 Kg for economy passengers and 40 Kg for Falcon Gold passengers under checked baggage category. There is a size restriction which is a maximum of 38 x 30 x 18 inches.
Cabin baggage allowance is restricted to a size of 17 x 15 x 12 inches and a weight of 6 Kg with additional benefits to Falcon Gold passengers.
