    Air India Express is India’s first international low-cost airline, a subsidiary of Air India. The maiden flight of Air India Express flew from Thiruvananthapuram to Abu Dhabi on April 29, 2005. Currently, the Air India Express is headquartered at Nariman Point, Mumbai, Maharashtra.

    Air India Express’ fleet includes state of the art 21 Boeing 737-800 aircrafts and has the capacity to accommodate around 180 passengers. Taking into consideration the needs of a budget traveller and following the standard model of a Low Cost Carrier, it has a single class economy.

    Say bye-bye to the conventional tickets and give a high-five to the new ‘itinerary receipts’ issued once the payment is successful. This receipt will be a representative of your booking and shall be deemed valid across all the airports.

    You will also be given a PNR Number at the time of booking. Carrying the receipt along with the PNR number is mandatory while reporting at the airport. 

    Air India Express however, doesn't facilitate open-dated booking. All the payments should be made upfront.

    Multiple payment options

    Air India Express offers a four-way payment option:

    • Online booking via internet using credit cards.
    • Pay for flights booked through the Air India Express’ reservation office by credit card.
    • For seats purchased at walk-in city or airport offices, cash & credit cards are accepted.
    • For seats purchased with one of Air India Express' travel agents, refer to the individual agent for details.

    Changes in reservation

    Air India Express gives you an option of rescheduling the date and time, in case of an emergency, if it is informed at least 12 hours prior to your flight’s departure. This service can be availed at a nominal charge.

    Change of route option is not available.

    Baggage information

    A total of 7 kgs of hand luggage falls within the permissible limits of Air India Express. Any luggage over and above the limit will have to be checked-in. 

    Depending upon the destination that you travel, there is a free-limit of baggage that is available. Anything that exceeds this free-limit, is permissible only on the availability of space in the aircraft at an extra applicable charge.

    Cancellation, refund & delay

    With Air Indian Express, you can get a refund as per their policy, if your ticket is cancelled before 24 hours of the scheduled departure of your flight. Only taxes will be refunded, if your cancellation is made in less than 24 hours of your flight’s departure.

    You don’t have to worry about waiting at the airport for hours together, if your flight is delayed. Should there be any delay, Air India Express ensures that every passenger is contacted well in advance. 

    In the event of cancellation of flight, passengers are transferred to the next available flight without levying an additional charge. Fare can also be refunded on the request of the passenger.
