    Kenya Airways is the flag carrier of Kenya. Started in 1977 by the Government of Kenya the airline has transformed into a public-private partnership with the main ownership resting between the government and KLM.

    Kenya Airways operates a fleet of 37 aircraft comprising 22 Boeing and 15 Embraer planes. The airline flies to 62 destinations in 48 countries in Asia, Europe, Africa and Middle East. The airline uses Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi as its hub.

    In 2016, Kenya Airways has been the recipient of two major awards. The World Travel Awards 2016 for the Best Airline in Africa and also Africa’s Leading Airline-Business Class awards.

    Kenya Airways has been involved in sponsoring two major events. The East African Safari Rally since 2011 and the KQ Golf Safari Series wherein flyers get to play golf tournaments in destinations to which Kenya Airways flies.

    Kenya Airways has also been awarded the British Safety Council International Safety Award 2014, for the airline’s excellence in health management and occupational safety.

    Kenya Airways Flying Blue Frequent Flyer Program

    Kenya Airways runs the Flying Blue frequent flyer program where passengers earn rewards for traveling on Kenya Airways flights or any of its partner airline flights. The program has four categories of membership - Ivory, Silver, Gold and Platinum. The program offers special benefits to golfers and runners if they subscribe to Flying Blue Golf and Flying Blue Running programs respectively.

    Travel Class

    Kenya Airways offers two classes of travel namely Business Class also known as Premier World and Economy Class. Premier World class has several benefits such as priority boarding and priority exit. Passengers on Premier World receive SkyPriority Service.

    Baggage Allowance

    Kenya Airways offers a favorable baggage allowance of 2 pieces of luggage. However, the allowances are dependent on aircraft, routes and class of travel. For Economy class, the weight restriction is 23 Kg for each piece. For Premier World, the allowance is restricted to a maximum of 32 Kg for each piece. The size restrictions are 158 Cm of length x width x height.

    For hand baggage, Kenya Airways allows 2 pieces plus 1 accessory for Premier World passengers and 1 piece and 1 accessory for Economy passengers. The weight is restricted to 12 Kg per piece and size is restricted to L55 x W25 x H35 Cm.
