Named after the leading lady of Indore’s Maratha Empire, the Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport was established back in the year 1945. Located at a distance of 8 km from the city, the airport serves Indore as well as other nearby regions of the state of Madhya Pradesh. Ranking as the 20th busiest in the nation with respect to passenger traffic, it is the busiest airport in the state.
Runways expansions for the airport were completed in the year 1996, while a new international terminal was brought into the picture in the year 2012.
