Cochin Airport

Established as early as 1936, the Cochin International Airport is located at a distance of 30 kilometres from the city, in Nedumbassery. The largest as well as the busiest airport in the state of Kerala, it played host to nearly 9 million people in the 2016-17.

The first airport in India, built under the model of Public-Private Partnership, the Cochin International Airport created history, when as many as 10,000 non-resident Indians funded its construction and set-up. The airport also holds the accolade of being the world’s first completely solar-powered airport.

Boasting of one domestic - T2, two international - T1 and T3 along with a cargo terminal, the airport also houses an impressive runway that spans 3,400 metres. The Terminal 3 of the airport is spread over a massive area of 2 million sqft, making it India’s 4th largest terminal.
