Located at a distance of 7 km from the city, the Vishakhapatnam airport is managed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in conjunction with the Indian Navy. The 2nd busiest airport in Andhra Pradesh, this airport was originally established to serve as a customs airport.
The airport’s domestic flight operations began in the year 1999, after which it underwent renovations and expansions on a massive scale to cater to its ever-increasing passenger traffic. Today, the airport’s new integrated terminal, which caters to domestic as well as international carriers and passengers, offers all the modern day facilities complete with 20 check-in counters. The terminal enjoys an impressive passenger holding capacity of 700.
