Located in an area known as Madhurapudi, the Rajahmundry Airport is at a distance of 18 km from the city. Serving the state of Andhra Pradesh, this airport was established during the British Raj. The airport was served by Vayudoot from 1985 to 1994, while in the year 1995, VIF airways served it. Spanning on an area of 366 acres this airport underwent a major renovation activity in the year 2011, after which it commenced regular operations in mid-2012.
Essentially a domestic airport, it houses a single terminal spread across an area of 3900 metres. The terminal is equipped with 6 check-in counters. While prominent domestic airlines such as Spice Jet and Jet Airways serve this airport and offer connectivity to major destinations across the nation, what makes the airport stand out is the fact that it also avails charter flight services. Hyderabad and Bangalore are two destinations which enjoy the maximum connectivity with this airport.
