Established back in the year 1944, the Silchar Airport essentially serves the state of Assam. The airport is a civil enclave and is jointly operated by the Airports Authority of India and The Indian Air Force. Nestled in the foothills of the Barail range, the airport is currently undergoing a major renovation activity. It is known to be the 4th busiest airport in the North-East India.
