You've met him before, and followed him on his adventures. But this time Vahishta Mistry does something different and interesting. He's here to share a well guarded secret with you. He uncovers four secret menus hiding in plain sight in your favourite burger chains in the US. So the next time you're booking your flight tickets to the USA, you'll know some things that other people don't.

    Here's him revealing the secret:

For the longest time, if you wanted to order something at a restaurant, especially a fast food chain, you’d be limited to what’s on the menu. Now, thanks to social media, the choices have gotten a bit bigger, but only if you know how to find them! There’s no way to order these items if you don’t know what they are, and the only way to find out is to log onto social media – this is the ultimate goal of creating these menus, as a way for chains to attract people to their social media accounts. But as you’ll see, this is well worth it because the food that’s hidden away is SO good!

    In-N-Out

Probably the most famous secret menu item ever, In-N-Out’s Animal Style Burger was a complete hit and that’s no surprise at all. Ordering an Animal Burger gets you a regular In-N-Out red-meat burger, but with secret Animal Sauce (a spicy horseradish sauce with many more secret ingredients), grilled onions, and mustard fried onto each patty. If you also use the secret 2xAnything option when you order, you’ll be able to double up on any ingredient. (This is special because In-N-Out is the sort of place that offers almost no customization, otherwise. What you see is what you get!)

    Five Guys

Five Guys’ Burger And Fries is, to the East coast of the US, what In-N-Out is to the West coast. I had the absolute pleasure of filling my face with one of their secret menu items, the Patty Melt, when I was at their Time’s Square outlet and boy, was it crazy! Picture this: a regular meat patty, mashed between two buttered grilled cheese sandwiches with grilled onions to add a sweet crunch. You can experiment with other fillings as well, but the onions really are the traditional favourite. If you’re feeling adventurous, they also have a secret fries menu, comprising of melted cheese on top of a regular serving of their signature curly fries.

    Wendy’s

If anything in this article is guaranteed to give you the happiest heart attack of all time, this is it. The Wendy’s secret menu item is called the Barnyard Burger, and it’s completely mental. It comprises of four patties of bacon, red meat, spicy chicken fillet and ham. Between each patty is a slice of cheese, the whole thing is grilled and served in a warm bun. Can you spell taste explosion? Although I had this burger in Dubai, the US version is apparently even better because they also give you the option of changing the sauce in the burger. I’d advise skipping the default mayo and going for some smoky barbecue sauce!

    Shake Shack

Yet another amazing chain, Shake Shack are best known for their gloriously thick milkshakes that invariably bring me to their yard. But they also do some really world-class burgers as well, and one of the really unique secret menu items they have is the Peanut Butter & Bacon Shack Burger. Although they did have this on the regular menu for a little while, the peanut allergy crowd soon had them worried enough to take it off. But fear not, for if you ask for it by name when you order, you’ll get it! The other really cool secret menu item is the Smoke Shack Quad Burger, which is four (yes, four!) patties of meat and slices of cheese in a single burger flavoured with smoky sauce, onions and bacon.
