Documentation for Schengen Visa


    Set of documents, which you should keep ready with in order to apply for Schengen Visa are as follows:

    • Your original passport, with the validity of more than 6 months. It should have at least two unfilled Visa pages. If you have applied for multiple-Visa, the validity of your passport must not be ending during your Schengen stay.
    • Two recent passport size photographs, in which your face is clearly visible with a comparative dull background.
    • One Visa Application Form – You can choose to fill it online or download the form take a print out and submit it manually.
    • For non-Indians residents, it is required to show the proof of legal stay or the nationality.
    • You should have taken a travel insurance policy, in case if something happens to you while on the trip, the company should be bearing expenses up to 30K Euros. (Though this document is subjective on the basis of medical conditions).
    • You should have the Proof of residence where you will be staying during your visit to Schengen.
    • Current bank statement with at the least 6 months previous details showing financial stability. In case you fail to publish the bank statement then an affidavit needs to be submitted in order to declare your income source.
    • A letter which had details about the duration of the visit, relatives name and expected date of return.

    The steps to be followed for applying for the Schengen visa are as follows:

    • Choose the most relevant Visa category (there are different documents needs to be submitted even visiting as a tourist), revealing the purpose as well as your connection in the said country.
    • File the entire document list in one master file, preferably use slip files for better visibility.
    • Submit the completed Visa application to the Schengen Embassy’s Visa office/consulate, which is serving your country/state.
    • Make the payment and receive the Visa.
