The Jolly Grant Airport of Dehradun is located at a distance of 22 km from the city. Serving the state of Uttarakhand especially the cities of Rishikesh and Haridwar, this airport was established in the year 1972. However, regular flight services commenced only in the year 2004, with Air Deccan’s flights to and from New Delhi. In the year 2008, the runways of the airport underwent expansion in a bid to accommodate larger planes, while a new terminal was set up in the year 2009.
The airport houses a domestic terminal with 8 check-in counters and a security counter and is equipped with all the modern-day amenities.
Currently, the airport enjoys appreciable connectivity with all the major cities of India, especially New Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
