Passport is one of the essential documents, you should have. It allows the holder to travel to multiple foreign destinations. Passports are generally issued for a time of 10 years.
If you are a minor, you will have to get another once you turn 18 years.

Who Should or Can Apply?
- The undergraduates or college students, who have to travel abroad for studies, generally apply for Short Validity Passports. It needs them to pass worldwide examination such as SAT, PTE, TOEFL and so forth.
- For the Indian citizens, who are living abroad from a long period of time, this type of passport can be easily applied for. You will get a short valid Indian Passport for an year’s duration.
- In case, your passport hasn’t arrived or lost in travelling, you can apply for a Short Validity Passport. This passport will later be converted into a 10-year full term passport, after fulfilling certain customs.
- In such cases, the passport is by and large endorsed promptly, with the passport legitimate for the time of 1 year from the date of issue.
Required Documents
There is a long list of documents, which can be submitted. Any three of these will work -
- Aadhaar card
- Phone Bill
- IT Assessment order
Photo ID proof, issued by state or central government, PSU and open restricted organization.
- Water Bill
- Proof or owning a Gas association
- If you are below 18 years – Parent’s Passport’s Copy
- Spouse’s passport’s Copy (if married)
- Voter Identity Proof
- Lease Agreement’s photocopy
- Bank Passbook
- Birth Certificate, approved by Municipal authorities.
- Arms License (if holder owns one)
- Pension documents (if receiving any)
- OBC/ST/SC Certificate
- Railway personality card
- PAN Card
Important Things to Remember
- The handling charge for this type of passport is Rs. 1000 for Normal Category while its three thousand ($50 or €40) if you are applying for Tatkaal.
Additional Information
A Short Validity Passport is legitimate for a period going from 1 year to 5 years, contingent upon the kind of use and the conditions.
