Senior Citizen Passport

    Senior citizens who wish to apply for their passport need to be physically present at the Passport Seva Kendra. They are however, given the advantage of Walk-ins, as it is not necessary to book your appointment online for senior citizens. Also, a designated separate counter is also there at Passport Seva Kendra for senior citizens.

    Who can apply?

    Any person who has attained the age of 65 or above is eligible to fall under the category of Senior Citizen and thus can apply for the Senior Citizen Passport. However there are certain exceptions, which are as follows:

    • For the citizen of Jammu and Kashmir, the age of men who can apply for the Senior Citizen Passport is 65 and above and for women it is 60 years and above.
    • For the people belonging to other states and Union Territories, the age is 65 years and above.

    Required Documents:

    There are various documents required for successful validation and completion of Senior Citizen Passport. Among the listed documents, a person can choose any 3 and produce at the time of verification:

    • Voter ID card issued by Government of India
    • Rent Agreement
    • PAN Card
    • Aadhar Card
    • Driving License
    • Birth Certificate
    • SC, ST or OBC certificate
    • Passbook: Bank, Kisan or Post Office
    • Connection bill of Gas
    • Any Property Document( Registered documents)
    • Licenses: Such as Arms Licenses

    Important things to remember:

    • A Senior Citizen Passport is same as any other passport, valid for 10 years.
    • You can choose to have a 36 pages passport or 60 pages passport, and fill the online application form accordingly.
    • There is no need for prior appointment in case of Senior Citizens, Walk-ins are welcomed.
    • For the people who do not have a valid birth proof certificate, a notarized document as per the format mentioned in Annexure ‘A’, will be required.

    Additional Information

    One should be aware about the timings of the Passport Seva Kendra, as generally in Walk-ins people tend to forget that:

    • Monday to Friday working
    • Timings are 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m., including lunch break from 1.30 p.m. to 2.00 p.m.
